What follows is a rough draft for the Wiki article for 1eo:

1eOnline(1eo)
1eOnline is a fan website for the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 1st Edition game. It is an attempt to compile, re-format, correct, clarify, annotate, illustrate, and update all 1st Ed. AD&D materials, without any qualitative change to the original Math or English of the game.
1eOnline is in Beta after 8 years, and there are another 6 years until projected 'completion'. Currently, the site is comprised of over 20,000 files (incl. image files), in over 200 folders (and sub-folders).
The site is free, and will always remain so. Under international copyright law, it still stands within a certain grey area, although <ref>Fair Use</ref> and <ref>Fair Dealing</ref> laws need to be considered, with specific regard to the legality of the site.

1.3 Future Direction
1.4 Relevance to RPGs, Computer Gaming and Academia
1.5 Site Design

1.1 Content
The core of the 1e content is the hardcover AD&D 1st Ed. books, of which there were 13. Currently, 8 have been 'completed' in a Beta sense, with one new release each year, on Oct. 1st (the designer's birthday).
'Completed' Books:
1) <ref>Monster Manual</ref>
2) <ref>Player's Handbook</ref>
3) <ref>Dungeon Master's Guide</ref>
4) <ref>Deities & Demigods</ref>
5) <ref>Fiend Folio</ref>
6) <ref>Monster Manual II</ref>
7) <ref>Unearthed Arcana</ref>
8) <ref>Oriental Adventures</ref>
Forthcoming Books:
9) <ref>Dungeoneer's Survival Guide</ref>
10) <ref>Wilderness Survival Guide</ref>
11) <ref>Manual of the Planes</ref>
12) <ref>Dragonlance Adventures</ref>
13) <ref>Greyhawk Adventures</ref>
In addition, all of the accessories and settings for 1st Ed. AD&D are meant to be included into the final completed work.
An example is the Rogues' Gallery, which, originally, in print, was 48 pages. The .html version (which will be fully illustrated), will be over 1000 pages, with no changes to the original base mathematical content.
All 1st Ed. articles from Dragon, White Dwarf, Polyhedron, and Imagine will be included as well.
Last but not least, all known posts by E. Gary Gygax, on Dragonsfoot, and ENWorld, specifically relating to 1st Edition AD&D, have been contextually included.
1.2 Controversies
Two main controversies presently exist with the site: copyright violation, and, the designer of the site himself.
Following Wikipedia's mandate of objectivity, it is only appropriate to touch upon the former, here.
However, it is fact that the designer of the site is permanently banned from the Dragonsfoot forums (Dragonsfoot being one of the recognized "Top 10" AD&D 1st Edition gaming sites on this planet). He has publicly recognized his own wrong-doing in this matter, and maintains good relations and communication with several members and moderators of the aforementioned site.
The designer, John Anthony Duarte Scott, known colloquially as "Prespos" (the name of an imaginary wizard, from the Forgotten Realms imaginary world), repeatedly maintains that what he does is legal, and in accord with the Fair Use and Fair Dealing laws of the USA, Canada, and the UK.
1.3 Future Direction
There are four stated intents for the site, for the future of the site:
1) The site is intended for 'user-customization', in the sense of a Linux 'distro' or a script library.
2) The site is intended as a 'database' or library, for the creation of an AD&D 1st Ed. computer game.
3) The site is intended as a first step towards the complete compilation (and interactive animation) of Dragon, et al.
4) The site is meant for hand-held devices and tablets, in a push to keep face-to-face gaming alive, while remaining relevant to the realities of the 21st century.
1.4 Relevance to RPGs, Computer Gaming and Academia
The core concept is simply compilation.
It is intended as an example for other RPGs: the concept of the complete compilation (compiled integration, integrated compilation) of any single RPG edition is key to understanding the site.
As well, the concept of complete compilation (compiled integration, integrated compilation) has relevance to academia and research, as well.
1.5 Site Design
The whole site is created with the most basic .html, via Netscape Composer 4.8. It works on any brower or hand-held device on the planet, with no technical problems. The intent is to always work with the most elemental aspect of .html technology. From there, other versions are intended to be created, drawing from the 1eo source, that include CSS, Javascript, PHP, and new and forthcoming technologies.
1.6 Summary
To understand 1eo, one must understand AD&D 1st. Ed., and the intent of the compiler of the game, E. Gary Gygax.
Concepts such as "game vs. realism/simulation", and, "the spirit of the game", both mentioned in the Dungeon Master's Guide, 1st. Edition, are key to understanding the intent and purpose of the site. As well, use in actual face-to-face gaming, is key to understanding the site.
The designer and the site in no way make a claim to representing E. Gary Gygax and/or his works, though it is implicit, and, explicit, that the designer intends the site to be a best attempt to carry on the gaming philosophy (FUN) of E. Gary Gygax into the 21st century, and, beyond.
